When I was young and my family would hop into our '51 Ford for a roadtrip, I would squeeze into the back seat with my 2 older brothers armed with our comics and we would trade and bicker and carry on and then every once in awhile my mother would reach around through the cigarette haze and backhand all 3 of us at once. Since then I've continued on and today I'm proud to have seen and been through many changes, some of which are reflected here in my pages. Many of my beliefs are contrary to those of my cherished friends and so I say that they are just this, my opinions which are given in the spirit of openness, rather than to in any way alienate those who would come here. Lastly, if you don't click on everything you see, you're missing out on the best part, so try to slow down and enjoy. Blow up the screen, crank up the volume and welcome to my world :-)

ACADEMY OF ARTS
SAINT-PETERSBURG, RUSSIA

you'll be wondering about this work and by way of brief explanation, it is called new generation Russian art . . . although I spent last evening going through the gallery, I made not a dent. The luxury of bringing up large bold images proved irresistible and I spent a great deal of time keeping company with this gentleman, who was totally indifferent to my requests to pass the pipe, even as I tried to wow him with some good npr jazz

to fill the monitor with such companions is to brighten up life in these parts no end. I was thrilled make this discovery through gladsdotter and although I do not know her, I thank her for some highly entertaining offerings. Were it not for stumble upon, I'd still be looking at Fillmore Auditorium posters of Country Joe and the Fish . . these consistently imaginative works suggest reinventing the vodka martini, if these be the effects

need to tell you the names of these artists, but guess what . . . not going back. . . The above, Oleg Yahnin . . . is head of the graphic arts department at Saint- Petersburg Institute of Arts and Crafts. So do you really want to read that or can we just let the senses fill and leave it there. The self-portraits . . . . Christlike, if his actual intent, convey deep anguish and despair, which can only add dimension to the coming holy week

"After Concert" by Tatyana Fedorova is a fine study of I think, life . . . it brings to mind the communion table where we partake of the elements with the saints before us . . it seems a surreal demonstration of the coming together of those who reach across time and space to participate . . .might be this perennial habit of reading in religious connotations, however

"Angel I" by Oleg Dozortzev only hints at the creativity of this artist, who is very busily interpreting a mind which seems to have a rem stage which transcends empirical observation. It's this sort of vision which defines an artist, if he's talented enough to to bring his dementia to the canvas . . ps, peel me a grape, dear, I like
